KG (H&F) is HWL’s pectin supplier.
The business was started in 1934 by Hermann Herbstreith, and
moved to the current head office site in Neuenbürg, on
the edge of the Black Forest, in 1938.
The company initially focused on apple
pectin, but following the reunification of Germany in 1990,
purchased a second production facility located in Brandenburg,
close to Berlin. The Brandenburg facility manufactures mostly
citrus pectin.
 HWL
have worked with H&F since 1994, and received superb backup
and support from Rolf Kratz and Claudia Zedler. Rolf and Claudia
have worked for H&F for many years before immigrating to
New Zealand in 1998. In 2004, HWL Australia was also appointed
agent for H&F in the Australian market.
H&F only manufactures pectin and pectin derivatives. The
company’s expertise in all things pectin is very comprehensive
and they have information on pectin applications such as the
standard jams and spreads, confectionery
products, bakery fillings and glazes, acidified
milk drinks and pharmaceutical applications.
H&F’s subsidiary, Herbafood
Ingredients GmbH, also produces a range of specialty fibres
and sweeteners, including
ingredients such as Herbasweet and Herbacel
Citrus Fibre.
