Palsgaard Emulsifier Plant . . .
Palsgaard has announced the construction
of a large state of the art emulsifier factory in
Asia. The yearly capacity of the plant is in excess
of 20.000 MT.
The whole Asian region has been a major growth
area for Palsgaard over the last few years. "In
order to satisfy the increasing needs and demands
of our customers for high quality emulsifiers and
stabilisers produced in the Asian region, this
is a natural move forward in Palsgaard's strategic
development plans", explains Chairman Mr. Birger
Brix.
The factory will be located in Malaysia, near the new port Tanjung
Pelepas.
Palsgaard already has a fully equipped application centre in Singapore
with pilot equipment for dairy, ice cream, bakery and soya milk products
- the new production facility makes it all complete.
The new factory is designed according to the latest and most modern
standards in terms of production technology, energy consumption and
environmental influence. The investment is budgeted for 30 million
USD, and will have product available to the market in early 2013.
Presently, Palsgaard emulsifiers supplied to the New Zealand market
are manufactured in Denmark.
With effect from May 2011, Palsgaard A/S Denmark has achieved ISO22000
and FSSC22000 certification. This means, that the quality management
system at Palsgaard now meets the demands of ISO9001 and ISO22000/FSSC22000.

Kibbled
Cocoa Butter and Liquor . . .

Hawkins Watts New Zealand has been supplying ADM Cocoa Butter and Liquor
in 25kg and 15kg blocks, respectively, for some time.
We now have both available in kibbled form,
which makes for easier handling in our
customers’ manufacturing plants. The kibbled
form of both are available in 10kg packs.
Update on pricing and availability
of Guar Gum . . .
The oilfield industry has increased its use of Guar Gum in drilling,
specifically in the process called hydraulic fracturing.
The picture is bleak for suppliers and even more bleak for buyers.
The guar situation has reached dire circumstances.
Unless there is a paradigm shift in technology for the oilfield industry
or a shift in policy away from hydraulic fracturing, there is no end
in sight for the current guar shortage. In the meantime, both producers
and users of food guar are scrambling to find substitutes or extenders
to guar.
