Fellowship for Alan Bulmer

We congratulate
Alan on being elected a NZIFST Fellow
at this year’s NZIFST Conference.
Alan is the 3rd member of Hawkins
Watts New Zealand to hold this prestigious
honour.
Alan has been with Hawkins Watts for more than 5 years as a Business
Development Manager. Prior to joining Hawkins Watts New Zealand, Alan
was a Business Manager at Bayer NZ, Operations Manager at Cerebos Greggs
and Food Technologist at Prepared Foods.
Alan’s key areas of expertise are in hydrocolloids, colours, dehydrated
vegetables and nutraceuticals which includes management of our FMC
BioPolymer Business.
In the office Alan is known for his poetic skills, neat freak printing,
and whiteboard displays. When he is not at work Alan’s interests include
fishing, writing, soccer coaching, music and theatre. Alan is married
to a Food Technologist and Marketer, Sandy, who lectures at Massey
University and they have two teenage sons.

FKO Caramelised
Sugars
Hawkins Watts New Zealand is pleased to represent the Felix
Koch Offenbach (FKO) range of caramelised sugars in both NZ
and Australia.
FKO have been manufacturing caramel colours and sugars since 1904 from
their base in Frankfurt, Germany. FKO produce a wide range of natural
caramelised sugars in both liquid and powder form.
From the Hawkins Watts New Zealand test kitchen we have found the 75/760-02
Syrup and Instant Karamel 75/700P exceptionally
good at giving great base notes in coffee and chocolate products.
The FKO range includes:

Natural
Colours & Flavours for Kids
With so much focus
recently by the media on the health
of childrens lunches, what better
time to look at developing Kids products
that are Natural in colour and flavour.
We have a wide range of natural colours from Phytone and
a new range of natural flavours from Symrise;
from everyday fruit flavours like banana, apple, kiwifruit, lemon,
and blueberry, to the more indulgent caramels, chocolates and
creams.

Hydrocolloid Workshop
Feedback from our Hydrocolloid Workshop in July was brilliant. A lot
of information was covered on many different hydrocolloids. Of particular
note and interest was the opportunity to have a hands on play and experiment
with samples.
Thanks to those who participated and we hope to have more ingredient
workshops next year.
