Hawkins Watts update - June 2007
www.hawkinswatts.com

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Hawkins Watts website!
After many hours of writing and rewriting we have finally gone live
with our website. Our aim was to design a practical and informative
site where everyone could quickly locate information on the products
and services offered by Hawkins Watts Ltd.
While it includes details on our overseas suppliers and the products
we offer, it also includes a special section dedicated to Technologists.
The “Technical Toolbox” includes recipes,
application information, temperature, metric and currency converters,
along with “E” numbers and reference charts. It also includes
a range of “how to” guides and a list of recommended reference
books.

We have developed a “GUM SELECTOR” tool
to help technologists choose the right hydrocolloid for specific applications.
New information will be continually added, especially in the “techie
toolbox” area. Incidentally, you can also check out previous
issues of the HWL newsletter and press releases online by clicking
on “Our News”.
The website team would welcome any comment you have about the layout
and content of the website. Please email us at sales@hawkinswatts.com.

Hawkins Watts welcomes Stuart Jones!
Stuart
joins Hawkins Watts after 15 years working in FMCG manufacturing.
He has a thorough grounding in manufacturing, research and
development, sales and marketing and supply chain logistics.
Stuart's specialty area is processed meat products and will
be working with both Alan and Natasha for the next few months,
learning the ropes.

Colour
Seminar showcases new technology
HWL hosted another seminar on the 22nd March as part of our ongoing
technical training series, covering the application of colours in food.

The seminar presenter was Robin Duke from Cathay Industries Australasia. Robin has over 40 years experience with
food colours and provided some great stories on the use and history
of food colours.
The presentation concluded with Robin showcasing the stability of various
colours in different applications and the latest developments from
Cathay Industries including chocolate that changes colour when placed
in the mouth, staining the tongue.

If
you are interested in obtaining a copy of the presentation
or samples of the new innovations presented at the seminar
then please email alan@hawkinswatts.com.

Please note that due to increasing popularity our seminars are filling
fast, and accordingly preference will be given to HWL clients.
Our next seminar (Cocoa & Vanilla) is
scheduled for Q4 2007, so please book early once the date
is finalised.
